@therealpaul
As some of you know, I’m not the friendliest blogger on Steemit. Get over it. Right now, my concern is that I got 100 new followers in one week, and I don’t know why.
I wonder what they expect to find here?
Welcome, I guess. If you’re not sure what this @therealpaul page is all about, then join the club!
Even as I write this, I’m realizing that I don’t have anything ready for this occasion. It was just a week ago that I reached 2001 followers, and made a whole post about it. NOW what?
Here’s an Example of the Kind of Thing You’ll Find Here
If you’ve just joined us here this week, then it’s fair that I should warn you; while some of the most successful Steemians of all time follow this page, you should know in advance that when you see the type of stuff I post on this blog, you will probably find yourself clicking to see what kind of train-wreck is going on here today, and with amazement, you’ll find yourself upvoting the most ridiculous things that you’ve ever seen, right here on this page.
New Photo of the Gutters I Never Cleaned
Last year, I made a successful post about how I needed to clean the rain gutters on my house, but instead of doing the job, I wrote a Steemit post about procrastination, instead of doing the work that was needed on the house.
In that post, I bragged about how I could be rewarded for NOT cleaning the gutters just by making a Steemit post about it. It was a post about itself more than being a post about tediously cleaning those gutters. It was comedy-- or at least what I call comedy-- and after that post, I realized that I would never have to clean the gutters-- I would just make more Steemit posts about not cleaning them.
Why Not Just Clean the Gutters, Paul?
Nobody has asked me that question yet. When they see how I’m raking in rewards for not doing the work, it’s really a no-brainer. Now my neighbors are looking at their own chores in a new way, and some of them are talking about joining Steemit as a result of my success.
Sometimes they’ll ask me how I was able to become so successful here on Steemit, and usually the first thing I tell them is, ”TAKE PICTURES OF EVERYTHING”
I’ll explain that while sometimes there are important chores to be done around the house, I’ve found that a good photo of the mess is a good place to start.
The ‘Before and After’ Post, Without the ‘After’
The process is pretty basic, and begins with an ambitious spark: ”I’ll take photos before I start the task, a few process photos in the middle, and some nice shots at the end, then make a post about it!”
The initial camera work in the “before” shots is critical-- these are the photos that will ultimately make the bulk of the images in the post.
After downloading the new images of the mess, be it uncleaned gutters, or just the ladder that will be used on the job, then the writing can begin. In the post, I will explain that I had spent so much time writing the post, that I didn’t have time to get to the gutters, and then will gush for a minute about how cool it is to be rewarded for not doing anything at all.
Some Promotional Work
I can explain to curious neighbors how they might use this formula for themselves, and how they could even make a post about me and my gutters if they liked. I can then make a post about it, explaining to my followers how they can use this simple formula too. For my neighbors, I might even suggest that they could offer to help me clean the gutters, take a few pics, then go make their own post about it, instead of actually helping with the work. These are just a few of the kinds of things that I offer my neighbors, and that I now offer to my newest followers.
I Might Actually Clean the Gutters Now
Thinking about gutters again, I’m supposing that I could use the decomposing leaf matter out in the garden, and I have a ladder and a wheelbarrow, I could do the whole thing in 15 minutes.
When I do, I’ll make an exclusive post about it, that is for sure.
Anyway, welcome all of you to my page/gutter update blog, and to all of my latest 100 followers, now you know what you might find here.
thanks for looking in, all photos were taken by me, 2018, then I hurried to make this post
It's the suttle change in text size that keeps me coming back. There seems to be one paragraph that is slightly larger in text size than the rest. Or are all the rest slightly smaller? Either way, it's not the first time I've noticed this and I'm still not entirely sure if they are two different text sizes at all. I hope they are or this comment will just sound crazy.

I think it's an optical illusion, but sometimes I do intentionally make a sentence larger than the rest. Sometimes the italics appear smaller than the normal text, that could do it.

I get the same thing, and I don't even talk about not doing the gutters.

I'll have to try that. I'm going to try not mentioning them for a while after this, see how thing go.

I also got 78 more followers in the last 3 days for absolute no reasons, what's that?
When I read gutter, at the beginning I thought you would talk about some internal organs, then thanks to the magic power of google.....I expanded my knowledge! You see? You see what steemit does??

I haven't investigated it myself, but some were saying that most of these new followers lately are bots of some sort.
Ha! My gut! I see what you mean there. Like, 'About time I cleaned out the old gutt-ers...' , and then I would perhaps go on and on about the intestinal tract, sharing my down-home remedies with my folksy charm.
But no, I was talking about the rain drains along the roof of the house, full of leaves and sticks even now. But you knew that, thanks to the miracle of steemit. I DO see what steemit does!

My wonder was not that surprising. Cleaning guts has becoming a relevant topic nowadays.
Here in Cambodia some people drink a beverage that make them puke even the milk they drunk when they were babies, in order to detox.

That sounds extreme, there has to be a way to detox without puking! I have drank water with calcium bentonite clay, or green clay, mixed into it before as a detox, but I dunno if it got that old milk out of me or not!

I'm not sure how to check to see how many followers I had last month or anything like that but I'm pretty sure there was one single day when I got about 10 or 20 extra. I think within the next few months we're going to see a huge boom in actual follower increments.

I have been getting 20 plus new followers within seconds of posting, almost everytime I post.. They are mostly if not all spam bots. If you click on any of the profiles, you will find a rep around 25, following thousands of people, only posts videos, and never posts comments. I have over 250 followers and I'm betting about only around 50 of them are real people..

I figured that many of them weren't real, it's just that I've never seen so many in so short a time. But yeah I don't really think there are that many people randomly following my page.

I've only been on steemit since march and it has been happening since I joined, but I've noticed that is has got significantly worse in the last couple of weeks.

Well, obviously you've missed the connection. You said you had 2001 followers and then in a week you got another 100. You were on a 2001 Space Odyssey, which is close in proximity to The Twilight Zone. That is where the new followers came from. Oh, shit! Pretty lame. Oh well, it beats cleaning the gutters. Blessings.

Welcome to steemit! I see that you upvoted your own comment, you should know that until your vote is worth about $0.03 cents, the vote on comments is wasted, and goes back to the reward pool. It's best to save your votes for posts that you like instead of comments. Have fun!
