Why I'm Back and What Happened

in blog •  4 years ago  (edited)

So in this post I'm going to address why I'm back here on @Steemit, my goals for posting on this site, as well as how you can help support me.

So the obvious reasons why I'm back here is because I love the idea of generating cryptocurrency instead of mining for it like bitcoin. I'm also taking steps away from other social medias, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter are the devils that currently ensnare my attention the most.

Facebook is something that I've got too much time wrapped up in to not keep it. I'm always double checking my security settings and checking what applications or websites have access to my data. It's a simple way to keep tabs on my friends and family without sharing to much garbage that will get me into some deep water politically with my friends on the platform.

My Instagram is home to a few memories and moments that I'll keep online for now. The time will come when I'll take down my page and clear as much of my data that I can from there. But for now it is a thing that keeps me occupied when I'm on the toilet (classy I know).

Twitter is something I use sparingly and just have incase something happens and I have a place to keep tabs quickly on things going on. Currently I only follow things on Twitter that I find useful to building my own skillsets. That's my biggest thing lately is building my own skillsets and becoming useful to my family and friends.

Now for the reason why I came back on here. I loved the idea of the platform when I first started posting on here several years ago. Back then I was a novice into prepping and I still had a lot of growing up to do in many ways. My relationship devolved into nothingness because of how little we had in common and how her family compared me to her ex. On top of all of that, her 12 year old daughter and I never really got along. My father passed away several years before all of that started and I was in a free fall, not knowing where I was going and who I wanted to be.

Since then. I've been through several interesting issues. One of the biggest ones is going through a tailspin of a depression and dealing with my mental state. While in the midst of my depression I had my wonderful cat Salem with me and he really helped me pull through my bad days of wanting to lay in bed by meowing at me for food and wanting to play. Needless to say he really got me out of bed and got me motivated to doing what needed to be done that day. Near the end of my crazy mental recuperation, on May 23, 2019, my hometown and my place of residence was struck by a tornado that was rated around an EF-3 or EF-4. During that time when I had nothing but a few of my possessions and Salem with me. Stuck in a trashed apartment with a landlord who wouldn't do anything about the damages, I started to looking for a new place to live. Unfortunately, the city I live in decided to raise up the rent for all of the surviving apartments and housing. So there was nothing for me to afford on my own. That's when God had the wonderful idea of introducing me to my lovely fiancé, V. She was a beacon of light in a time when I didn't have much purpose.

Shortly after we started dating, against better judgement, we decided to get a place to live together. We are still living here now actually, we just signed on for another year here before we go about buying a house together. Now I'm looking to become the man I have always wanted in my life. A strong, moral, God fearing man who stands up for what he believes in and protects his family.

Apologies for the long post. TLDR: Been through some bad times and grew up. Now working on making myself the man I wish I had to look up to when I was younger.
