Diary of a Survivor (Week 1) - Alone and Scared!

in blog •  8 years ago  (edited)

Day 1:

07:00 AM - I awoke this morning to find no one else around. The entire city of Cairo, Egypt was deserted. Not a single human, animal or insect was anywhere to be found. Is this some kind of dream, am I dead?

Source

12:01 PM - I have been searching for hours and haven't found anything or anyone. No notes, no signs of struggle, food still on the tables....where did everyone go?

13:30 PM - Do animals go to heaven? Could this be the rapture spoken about in so many religions? Am I the only one left because I am a true Atheist?

14:00 PM - All the electric and water seems to still be working. Going to stock up on food, water, fuel, etc. while I can. Found a large Straight Truck with a hitch on the back and a tanker full of diesel fuel.

16:00 PM - Straight truck is filled to the brim with food, hooked a second tanker to the rear of the first full of fresh water. Scrounged all the survival gear I could find and decided to head to Mecca/Jerusalem and see if anyone else is alive!

23:30 PM - Crossed into Israel, haven't seen a living thing since leaving Cairo. Starting to loose hope that anything else is alive on this planet.

Day 2:

03:30 AM - Arrived in Jerusalem, billboards everywhere saying "I told you so!" and "The End has Come!", who put them up, did someone else survive.....are they talking about the Rapture?

Source

06:00 AM - It is now daylight but there are still no signs of anyone else alive. Going to find a bigger truck and gather more supplies.

08:00 AM - Found a US Military Heavy Haul 8 Wheel Semi Tractor and two tankers fully fueled with Diesel Fuel. Searching for a 53' box trailer and a dolly to hook it behind tankers.

08:15 AM - Found 53' box trailer and a dolly at a grocery warehouse. Filled it half way with food then went to a drug distribution company and stocked up on medicines and medical supplies. Searching for an Agricultural Center.

09:30 AM - Finished filling Box Trailer with Seeds, Fertilizer, Soil (bagged), Mulch and tools. Heading towards Europe.

16:00 PM - Made it to Beirut, Lebanon - Still no signs of life other than the Billboards in Jerusalem. It has been a long day so I am spending the night at the Four Seasons Hotel Beirut overlooking the Harbor and Eastern edge of the Mediterranean Sea.

Day 3:

01:00 AM - I hear what sounds like Whales singing, city lights still on so I rush to look out window. Overlooking the harbor I see a pack of Whales in the Harbor. They seem to be trapped in the Harbor. But they are alive and signing (asking for help). First living things I have seen, how did they survive....what did they survive?

Source

01:30 AM - I raced to the Harbor and ran out to the end of a dock and all the whales took turns coming up to the end of the dock and saying hello and letting me rub their heads. They seem to be in good condition but want out into open waters.

03:30 AM - After some investigating I found a large cargo ship had drifted into the opening to the harbor and blocked the entire entrance. I ran back to the marina and quickly found a tug boat and pushed the cargo ship out of the harbor enough for the whales to escape. I think they knew what I was doing because they followed the tug out of the Marina.

04:00 AM - Back at hotel trying to get some more sleep....can't even lay down I am so excited that there is still some life on this planet. Pretty sure I am not dreaming now.....but why did the whales survive is perplexing me. Why am I the only human is even more confusing. If the whales survived and I survived where do all the insects, birds, plants, trees, etc. go.....there is nothing alive on land except me, as far as I have seen.

06:00 AM - Gave up on sleeping, decided if there is still life in the sea then the sea is where I should be. Internet still working so I Googled shipyards and found out that the "Port of Beirut" is just a few miles away. Probably where that cargo ship was headed when everyone vanished. Heading there now.

06:15 AM - Arrived at Port of Beirut and it is full of cargo ships, tankers and freighters. Then I realize I have no idea how to operate one of these behemoths and even if I did would never be able to do it alone. Time to find something smaller.

07:00 AM - Arrive back at Marina next to hotel and take the tug boat back out to see if I can push the freighter clear of the entrance to the harbor. After almost three hours I freed the freighter and pushed it around to the Port, well out of the way.

10:30 AM - Back at the Marina. Found a nice 120' Yacht, fully fueled with 2500 gallons of Diesel Fuel onboard, water desalinization units and a storage area large enough to grow enough food for me and a few other people if I find any other survivors.

14:00 PM - Filled the yacht with as much as it will hold, even put stuff in the extra cabins and bathrooms that I won't need. Converted the large storage area (which I discovered was intended for storing watercraft and smaller boats) into a grow room. Installed low voltage UV led lighting and sprinkler system I can turn on manually.

16:00 PM - Heading for Cyprus, it is a relatively isolated Greek Island and hoping that whatever happened to the world didn't hit Cyprus.

16:30 PM - Left the Harbor in Beirut and set a course for Larnaca, Crete. Whales are back and following my yacht. They are on both sides, in front and behind.....almost like they think I am one of them, one of their young.

Day 4:

00:30 AM - Awaken by loud air horn. Jump out of bed and race to the bridge to see three Greek Coast Guard ships heading straight for me, they are blasting their horns and speaking in Greek. Then they try English for some reason, oh yea the yacht I acquired is flying an American Flag. I cut my engines as they requested and they send out two patrol boats to board me.

Source

01:00 AM - I am now aboard one of the Greek ships, being interrogated. They want to know where I came from and if I met anyone else along the way. I tell them aside from the whales that fled as soon as they showed up I haven't seen another living thing until them.

02:00 AM - They decide I am not a threat and take me back to the yacht and escort me into port in Larnaca. There are about 2 dozen men, women and children waiting when we arrive. Two dozen in a city that normally had over 100,000. I still had no clue what the frack was going on.

03:00 AM - I am promptly escorted to the local hospital where the one remaining doctor gives me a thorough checkup and declares me safe. Then the two military personnel escorting me take me back to the yacht and inform me that during the nite, 3 nights ago.....tens of thousands of alien ships descended upon the Earth and from them shone a bright red light that seemed to vaporize everything organic it came in contact with. No one knew for sure if the stuff was transported aboard the ships or just disintegrated. But I was the first outsider they had seen so they were being overly cautious.

04:00 AM - I am left on the yacht and lay down for a while, knowing I won't be sleeping anytime soon.

06:00 AM - Not sure when I fell asleep but someone is on the dock outside my yacht asking if they can come aboard. Sounds like a woman.

06:15 AM - Felicia comes aboard and informs me she is a single American, like me, and doesn't want to stay in Cyprus. She wants to join me if I head back to the USA. I tell her I am heading that way and she is welcome to come along.

06:45 PM - Felicia returns with her belongings and three other people. One from Spain, one from Brazil and one from Mexico. All females in their 20's and they all want to tag along. I have plenty of food and supplies so I invite them all aboard.

07:00 PM - We set sail for Barcelona but not sure this yacht has enough fuel to make it that far so we head towards Athens first.

Day 5:

13:00 PM - We are approaching the Port of Piraeus in Athens, Greece. I signal everyone to join me on the bridge as well sail into the port. There is no one there, the place is completely deserted, just like the Middle East was.

13:30 PM - I dock at the Ferry terminal and tell the girls to be back aboard at 15:00. As they head off to explore I begin fueling the yacht.

14:45 PM - The yacht is finally full of fuel but no one has made it back to the yacht yet. So I decide to look around the ship yard and see what I can find. Within minutes I find a small tug boat that holds 5,000 gallons of diesel. It is a refuelling tug that goes out and fuels freighters that aren't coming into port. I check and it is slam full of fuel. I decide to see if there is another one and sure enough there was, but it was empty. So I hopped aboard and fired it up and pulled it around to the pumps to fill it.

18:00 PM - I got both tugs fully fueled and tied off to each side of the yacht. Now have three working boats and 12,000 gallons of diesel fuel. That should be enough to make it all the way to the USA. Just realized it was dark and the girls aren't back yet. Aboard one of the tugs I found a loaded 9mm with 5 full clips of Jacketed Hollow Points. I grab the gun and clips and head towards downtown Athens hoping to find the girls.

19:30 PM - I arrive in downtown Athens, why I walked I have no idea but there in Syntagma square sat the 4 girls. Just sitting their quietly looking up at the fountain in the middle of the square. Not making a sound so I walked up to them and asked if they were ready to go. But they didn't answer. When I walked in front of them they "awoke" from the trance they where in. Apparently there was something in the fountain or lights of the fountain that had mesmerized them. Quickly they jumped up and grabbed me and took off running.

20:00 PM - We made it back to the yacht, on foot at a dead run, in 30 minutes. As soon as we were aboard Felicia screams "lets go now" so I fired up the yacht and headed out to sea. "What is going on?" I ask as we clear the port and head into the open Mediterranean Sea. "I am not sure, but it scared the hell out of me!" Felicia responded. Consuella and both Maria's both chime in "it was the most terrifying thing we have ever seen" almost as if they were speaking in one voice, with one mind.

Day 6:

16:00 PM - The girls are getting restless after only about 18 hours at sea so I head into port at Monaco. They want to hit the casinos just in case there is still a society left in the America's. So we put into harbor outside of the Casino de Montecarlo. There doesn't seem to be anyone in this part of Europe either so we all head into the casino. There we find numerous carts full of money (mostly Euro's and American Dollars) I tell the girls to play with Euro's but keep all the American Dollars just in case. So we spent the night playing slots with the Euro's....why I am not sure but it was a fun distraction for a few hours.

Day 7:

06:00 AM - We are back aboard the yacht with over 100 million in USD and almost a million in Euro's (for Consuella) as she has decided she wants to stay in Barcelona when we get there....even if she is all alone. Why she will need money I don't know.

Source

07:00 AM - I have got us back into open waters and sat sail for Barcelona. I begin teaching Consuella how to survive in this new world all alone. I tell her to find a place, first thing, where she can grow food and to start hoarding all the supplies and food she can find in that place. Then start growing food for when her supplies run out. She has many questions and I do my best to answer them all.

16:00 PM - Consuella has finally realized she can't do it alone and asked if she can stay aboard and go to America. Of course I say yes, she is a beautiful latin redhead and has been driving me nuts since I first laid eyes on her. I doubt she feels anything for me but I can hope.

16:15 PM - I change course and head directly towards the Straight of Gibraltar. The only exit from the Mediterranean sea into the Atlantic Ocean.

17:30 PM - Felicia decided to cook us all a classic Southern Meal. She is like me, a redneck from Georgia and invites us all to the galley to eat.

17:45 PM - I almost done with my meal but can't help but notice that Felicia hasn't eaten. She has just sat there staring at me the entire time. As I get up to take my plate to the kitchen she follows.

18:00 PM - Felicia turns me around as I put my dishes in the sink and kisses me on the lips before leaning in and whispering in my ear. You may be the last man I ever see and I really want to feel normal again, if only for a little while. Make love to me right now.

18:30 PM - Felicia and I are in the State Room and are well underway when suddenly the door opens and Consuella walks in wearing nothing but her birthday suit. Oh man I was hoping this would happen. Without so much as a word she climbs into bed, flips me on my back and her and Felicia began treating me as if I was the last man alive.....or at least the last one they will ever meet.

21:45 PM - The sounds coming from the state room got to be too much for the Maria's and they both burst in, demanding to be included in the party. Then suddenly it hits me no one is manning the ship so I leap out of bead, grab my shorts and head for the bridge.

22:00 PM - I am now on the bridge and hear come the girls, all 4 of them. They want to finish the party up there since I insist on being up there. Truth is the yacht has the most state-of-the-art navigation ever created but I wasn't telling them that....I was overwhelmed and the thought of trying to satisfy 4 women at once was short-circuiting my brain. So I told them to enjoy each other and I would watch, that I wasn't feeling good....yea I said "I have a headache!"

This is something different. I like it.

What inspired this i wonder? Ive had similar dreams minus the girls, those usually end up being all about girls not much story or context. This is a good read. Mild spelling errors, the flow is good, nothing droned on, needlessly... fracking good time!
