I really am a live and let live kinda guy, but when I'm pouring my first cup of coffee and sitting down with my wife, on Sunday morning, I feel I'm entitled to some peace and quiet. This morning it was not the case.
Building management felt it was appropriate to contract our landscape company, to fix all of the railings, on the doorways of our building, this morning.
8:30am there was a very friendly young man chiseling concrete away from the base of the railings and then firing up his leaf blower to clear out the concrete dust from his efforts. Blowing the dust right into the ground floor apartments and making a heck of a racket.
I don't know if you've ever chiseled out concrete, but when you hammer it, the whole building has a slight reverberation. Regardless, from Saturday at 6:00pm till Monday at 8:00am, no commercial construction, alteration, repair or demolition can take place in my town, according to the town's own ordinances. I asked them to stop and was told by the building janitor that they were going to continue and I could go fuck myself. He's lucky he didn't get knocked out.
So I called the cops. They came in record time. The first cop tells me that I am right, they can't use heavy equipment on a Sunday, and that he would talk to them. His backup came along and told them they couldn't use the leaf blower but could continue working quietly. Both cops said since there was no "Heavy Equipment" involved, it was fine. That is not how the ordinance reads. I get pissed when people start making things up, especially law enforcement.
Below is the town's ordinance. Nowhere does it mention "heavy equipment" rather the phrase, "any equipment." The cops kept adding and omitting terms to the ordinance. Drives me nuts. Eventually the little team of workers packed up and left. Small victory. But it got me in a stressful situation, on a Sunday morning, that I really didn't need. Urgh!

I have an asshole at the next level wich use a power drill every saturday starting 8 AM. I don't know what he intend to do other than demolish the entire building! 😈
