How Detrimental is Having A Goal of Only Making Money on Steemit Going to Affect Your Experience?

Money leads to wealth, which leads to freedom, which leads to....

This is potentially a loaded question, but I still want to try and tackle it because I recently cemented my own goals for participating in our little social blockchain project.

Well Steemit is far from little and neither is the importance of your time and for many, money that 10s of thousands of people across the world spend blogging, curating, and commenting.

Time is one thing you will never get back, so why do you spend it on Steemit?

I feel like so many people avoid saying their main motivation is making money and eventually generating life changing wealth! Wealth leads to financial freedom and thats something everyone deserves.

Being able to live my life by their own rules motivated by only stimuli that give me purpose is what made me spend hundreds of ours blogging.

Although I saw nothing wrong with the motivation to make money, I noticed that Steemit became more of a stressor I added to my already full plate of "life"! I found myself spiraling into a love hate relationship with Steemit, which was mainly fueled by my frustrations of not having enough sp to be heard.

Ever since I managed to power up to a dolphin and my year and half long goal was achieved, I almost had a one eighty with my outlook on this community.

I think that because I never had to worry about "not having enough", Steemit became more of a source of relief than a stressor, which leads me to ask how detrimental is having a goal of only making money on Steemit going to effect your experience?

For me, the stress of becoming a dolphin wasn't conducive to anything positive or worth wile, which reflected in my work and opinion of the platform.

I am only one individual and I'm curious what your goals are for being on Steemit, as well as your experiences so far in the community!

Until next time, this has been a message from your friendly neighborhood #spiderblogger!

My ultimate goal that i don't think it's possible, is to make a living out of this.

after i understood how this platform works i made sub goals and some of them are: (it may sound stupid though)

  1. learn new things
  2. Earn some pocket money
  3. Earn money that will help me pay a master degree in the near future
  4. Earn money that will help me travel in at least another country
  5. Meet new people and make long lasting friendships. (just imagine to travel to another country and have a steemian friend meet up with you, guide you or give you some tips and vice versa
  6. Help newbies remain and grow in steemit

My experiences have it all though, so it could take hours of writing to express them all :P i am close to 2 years here!

Yo I am so sorry I missed this comment but I absolutely love your list!

I agree that we won’t be able to make a living off of steem in the foreseeable future so it’s important to have those subclasses!

If I can pay off a bit of dental school with this and continue to make some cool friends I’ll be happy!

I would also like a nice passive income of crypto too!

Thank you for very engaging comment 😁

Don't worry be happy!

All in All i hope we make some money to make our lives easier and some friends! I hope like everyone that we become rich from Steemit but i doubt it :P

Hi @waphilip

I only found out about your account a moment ago. I must admit that so far you managed to grab my attention and I enjoyed reading your work.

I also have impression that most people do not feel comfortable admiting, that they are here on Steemit because of money. because of hope of making money.

I wonder what is your personal reason of being here ?

Yours
Piotr

Wow thank you, I appreciate the support! I just followed you back and look forward to digging through ya material later!

And a big reason I’m on steem is to for sure secure some type of financial security for myself, which is why I invested to dolphin status!

Another reason is that I felt I spent too much time on other social media sites where I was trading my time and energy for nothing meaningful. At least here I can invest my time into something I want to see succeed and I’m a part of

hi @waphilip

clearly you're very responsive which is absolutely great and steemit community surely will benefit by having you here.

if you would ever like to keep in touch and support each other closer, then drop me a message [email protected].
This will allow us to communicate easier.

No pressure of course,

Cheers, Piotr

I see the time spent here on Steem (notice not Steemit) as an additional investment on top of the fiat spent to power up Steem because it is what builds relationships and communities across an ecosystem that is expanding. This is why I no longer refer to just Steemit as Steem is so much more. Whether it be my fitness and health via the @actifit app or some entertainment with @steemmonsters, I am finding ways to stay engaged without needing to be a slave to my feed. This becomes an fulfilling experience for me and one that has already started to generate returns in meeting new people and enjoying the journey!

I think everyone can answer that question by replacing 'steemit' with 'life' !

"How Detrimental is Having A Goal of Only Making Money on LIFE Going to Affect Your Experience?"

also as a side note I think as a community we need to be better at referring to steem rather than steemit as a rapidly increasing number of people no longer interact with the blockchain though steemit which has become quite stale.

You’re the second person to mentioned the steemit steem change!

And big facts! I’m trying to slowly evolve a minimalistic mindset even though I already have a good one!

You should check out steempeak.com if you have not already

Woah I took a quick glance and I think It’s awesome! So it follows the curation of big time curators? Gonna be great for finding good steemians to follow!

No its just an alternative interface. Currently just uses trending for tropics but they are working on an alternative to that. They have a range of views which are better for content creators. Like they have a grid view and even a portfolio view (can see mine here https://steempeak.com/@intrepidphotos/portfolio ) . Let you draft and schedule posts etc. Can see more about it at @steempeak

Woah your page is awesome! That’s def the ideal interface for all of your pics! It’s like insta!

Thanks. I can't recommend steempeak enough; it has changed my view of what the steem ecosystem is capable of.

I have to check it out! I’m super hooked to the one I’m using now tho haha

I value the type of people I've met on the platform and those whom are always working to build up others. @pennsif has helped me out so much here and meeting guys like @vladivostok and @gray00 that have groups for post promotions and ipfs video backup. Most everyone I've encountered is trying to encourage and uplift each other here.

Well put! It wasn’t until I invested both fiat and time that I really started to appreciate the value of *Steem 😁
