Well, probably not! I wasn't a vegan 5 years back. And I didn't even know what veganism was. I was raised a vegetarian. And all my relative and most of my friends are vegetarian. But it's really not easy for them to go vegan. Just like quitting meat is difficult for meat eaters, for vegetarians, the major stumbling block to veganism is to quit dairy. And dairy is more difficult to quit than meat because of two reasons:

  1. It is very difficult to understand the inherent violence in consuming dairy as it is not directly visible to the consumers here and culturally cows are considered holy and are considered equivalent to our mother.

  2. In our culture, dairy is an integral part of meals. In fact, it is used in most of the dishes, sweets and even in sacred rituals and temples.

So unless people understand the inherent violence in it and can make a connection with their inner-Self, it will be always difficult to go vegan merely because of some logical reasoning.

Fortunately, for me, it wasn't any difficult. As soon as I realized and made the connection ...that was it. Later I learned that people like me are categorized as vegan 😊

So now you know that I don't consume any animal milk, eggs, honey or any animal product for that matter.

And regarding your mention of "choice", I had already dedicated a complete write-up on it but can't link here as it was written in Hindi. And it would be quite lengthy to explain all about it here. But I'm soon planning to write one in English too. Once done, I'd give you a link. Then sure, it would be your choice to read or ignore it 😉

Ooh I see! I'm sorry, I keep forgetting that vegetarian is the middle thing and vegans eat no animal products whatsoever. In the Netherlands, you grow up eating meat and all sorts of animal products, so here I guess is a very different view on it from most people. Vegetarians are the minority here.

If you send me a link, I will read it. Not in Hindi though, as I wouldn't understand that :-)

Sure, I'd let you know when I write it. Thanks for your interest! 😍
