The rise of the steemit professional Blogger

in blogging •  7 years ago

Are you posting on steemit?

Are you making money?

Well, that makes you a professional Blogger then.

OK a bit of a stretch, you may not be making a living at doing it but you're making money, you're being paid to post whatever you post.

Now to the reason for this post.
I saw a post earlier where someone said quality content creators were leaving steemit because of flower pictures. Flowers were driving away the professional bloggers.

Now unless these bloggers have a very rare type of hay-fever that is triggered just by an image of a flower I can't see how they can be classed as professional. Maybe elitist snob bloggers would be a better way to discribe them if that claim of flowers driving them away is true.

Now while this is a place where you post blogs, it isn't an old fashioned blog site but a social media site where people from all over the world post whatever they like.

So why the attitude that a post that is of 'serious quality content' must be better than a photograph of a flower that someone has looked after and tended to help bring it to bloom or a garden, looked after for years?

The simple fact is people love to look at photographs of natural beauty, to see plants and flowers that are not native to their home countries. People are sharing their lives and passions with their posts and for anyone to try and say such posts are of lesser value to the steemit community than some post that took an hour to write are fooling themselves and showing disrespect to their fellow steemians.

I've found the people love photographs of gardens, the plants in them and the wildlife that we see, we are learning about each other through our posts. On steemit there shouldn't be an attitude of some posts being superior, if it doesn't 'float your boat' then just don't look at it or upvote it.

So here we are with this amazing site and opportunity for us all to become professional bloggers so we should all be showing some professional respect for each other.

So lets end this with another flower photograph.

Wait, but are they claiming what they do is harder or takes more work or something? Because I know photography can be quite time consuming. For a perfect flower picture (and no, I don't mean the 'look, at my blooming flower' kind), many photographers have bought expensive equipment. They spend loads of hours practicing their skills. They shoot thousands of pictures to get to a higher level and they shoot hundreds, before they get the shot that is 'just right'. Not to mention the editing they might do after capturing that perfect shot. I'd argue that the most talented photographers on this platform are equally skilled (or even more so), than these 'professional' bloggers.

Also, nice post!

I tend to point, press and hope but do know the dedication shown by photographers.

Yeah, I do that for my blog and food posts. When I'm out on most activities, all I have with me is my phone. When I take my camera with me though, it takes some more dedication and I come home with hundreds of pictures to sort though. After I found about 5 - 10 that I deem worthy, I edit them to bring out the best. And for me it's just a hobby, I'm sure true professionals spend even more time and thought on their pictures.

I agree with you. I saw this post also today. As I think Steemit is a place for free content. Both "flowers" and "quality" content is need here.
Dude censorship ))

I missed that post. Have you got a link?

Sorry it was a post from yesterday resteemed this morning, i spent most of the day mulling it over before I posted about it.

Amazing floral photography!

awesome

Too awesome that this can actually become a thing. or is a thing rather! Well done man and to all involved!

Haha nice post, I think it's true what you are saying, whoever thinks his posts are better just because he thinks he's a "professional" does not belong to steem.
This is a social media site. A site for every topic. A site for everybody. :)

You made stome strongs point here friend. People should post whatever they like and everyone should upvoted whatever they like, no matter what the others think of it. There are also many high quality written articles here so i think that there is a balance in things.

I am guilty of flower blogging. Lol 😂

nice photo
thank you for sharing

Agreed! Very good point. A professional is just someone who is well versed in a subject, but how they choose to communicate and show their work is up to them. Each communication is unique. If it's not your thing then that's fine, don't upvote it. And I agree with you that people like to see natural beauty and learn about it. We are drawn to it, and it comes in all different forms. Thanks for sharing this :)
