Hi – this is a 73-year-old onboard

Yes, I am a 73-year-old man, a retired engineer who used to build and overhaul fighter aircraft. I have traveled extensively and have seen life from various angles. These have appeared in my blogs and I have won some recognition of sorts for my efforts.
My blogging career took off in 2004 – when blog was in its infancy. And, it was my son who introduced me to this wonderful medium to make friends and, not just influence people, but also, to learn more and more about life. It is said that there is no end to learning and I know how true it is – I am still learning.
Can you believe that I had, once, spent a full 24-hours on the platforms of a railway station? All because of some quarrel between some people – the train did not leave the originating station on time and passengers like me were stranded en-route. It was an experience that I can never forget.
But – life goes on and every morning I rise with the Sun and the chirping of birds outside my window.

Bloody hell, another military aircraft fitter from days of yore. I thought I was the only one. Airframe? Engines? Electrics? Avionics?

I was in the Royal Navy on board HMS Ark Royal and HMS Eagle in the 60's and continued this work all around Europe and the Mid East.
What fighters did you service? My guess would be F-104's, F-100's and others of that time. If so its a pity you were USAF, you could have been USN and utterly superior to the USAF coastal defence force. BZ to you anyway my friend.

they were MiGs -

You must be an Indian man judging by your name my friend, I called into a few of your ports in my time.

We were instructed to watch out for Soviet spies trying to extract info from us before we disembarked in India, we thought they would be disguised as beautiful women, how wrong we were. So very wrong.

yes, i am Indian ... regarding spies and disguising as beautiful women - well - that's a different kettle of fish altogether ...
