India's New Move With BrahMos Cruise Missile Likely To Anger China

in blogs •  7 years ago

New Delhi: At a time when India and China are dealing with their worst border tension in decades, Vietnam has reportedly acquired the Indian BrahMos supersonic anti-ship cruise missile, widely considered one of the most advanced missiles of its type in the world.

India has not commented yet on the sale, and details are not available yet on how much it is worth or how many missile systems are involved
Answering a specific question on the missile at a press conference held earlier today, Vietnamese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang said "The procurement of defence equipment by Vietnam is consistent with the policy of peace and self-defence and is the normal practice in national defence." She added that the Vietnam-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership which includes co-operation in defence has "been making a practical contribution to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region."
