A blowpipe or blowgun a traditional weapon from Dayak.few tribes in the world who have blowpipe as weapon like Indian, Japanese Ninja. Dayak is one of tribe in Borneo. It is made of bamboo or wooden tubes 1-3 m long, blowpipe equipped with short arrow with round shape approximately less than 1 cm in diameter. Arrow called (damek) can be made of bamboo which one end is shaped like a cone made of wood with light mass (from pelawi wood). This shape can cause damek streak straight when launched from the hollow. While the other end is usually given a very deadly poison.
Indonesian military adopt sumpit Dayak ( blowpipe ) as the traditional weapon for silent raid. It was used when Indonesian Army stopped the Aceh Rebel. Some soldiers who are originally from Dayak tasked as the sumpit blower to raid Aceh Freedom Movement ( GAM) post.
