What is BMI? It is an easy question to answer given the fact that it is a common question. But what exactly is it? And why is it important?

Formula : BMI = Weight(kg) / [Height(m) X Height(m)]

Body mass index, or BMI, is a standard value calculated based on the ratio of weight to height. The BMI is calculated as the ratio of the weight of a person to his/her height and is usually expressed in units of kilograms/m. This number tells a person's BMI, which is a good indicator of a person's ideal weight for his/her height. This value is also used to determine the proper amount of food and exercise a person should engage in. The concept of what is BMI was created so that people would have a better idea of how much exercise and/or food to take or engage in as part of their daily activity, as well as how to maintain a healthy weight.

So, what is BMI? The answer to the first question is quite straightforward; BMI is a numerical representation of how much someone weighs. It takes into consideration many factors in a person's body structure to come up with an accurate reading. These factors are things like the person's gender, race, age, physical activity level, and genetic predisposition.

Body composition is measured using many different methods. These include body calipers, hydrodensitometry, arm measurements, underwater weighing, and many others. The advantage of using these methods is that they all use different methods to calculate the weight of a particular person, which means that the results they provide can be compared between individuals of similar heights. By measuring the weight of one person in relation to another, the results can then be compared to calculate the average weight for that individual.

There are several charts that you can look up online that will help show your BMI. This is based on the premise that a normal distribution is used. Generally, this reading shows that most people within a given body category will be within a range of roughly 10 percent of each other. In order to get a more accurate reading, you can take your own body measurements as well. This will not only give you more of an accurate assessment, but it will also allow you to see what percentage of people in your given category fall into that range.

The importance of BMI? In order to successfully apply for, or afford, weight loss surgery or some other type of weight-loss treatment, you must have a proper body mass index. If you have a low body fat percentage or a high one, you may be a better candidate for treatment or to simply lose weight. But no matter what your actual BMI, always remember to check it periodically just to be sure.
