bmw engine thoughts

in bmw •  8 years ago

so this is my other cars engine i have to say that i have never worked on an engine as complicated as this it seems like bmw will use two bolts where one will normally do

its a 528i i do love the low down grunt this engine gives its a 6 cylinder but seems to give v8 torque

one week point that was a compleate bitch to fix was whats called the ccv crank case valve and pipes

the air box you see on the right of the picture and all the pipe work had to come out that was the easy part then most of the stuff under the air intake including the oil dip stick had to come out just to get to the valve grrr

took me the best part of an afternoon to do as well worst bit was the pipes and valve part are made of plastic that gets very brittle over time and then just snapes or smashes into load of pieces lol

come on bmw sort it out your suppost to be the unltimate driving machine but with crap plastic parts like this in the engine bay i worrie your over doing the claims on the adverts :( spark plugs was another job i did but was very easy to install all your have to do is remove the plasic cover with the bmw sign on and undo a few bolts to release the coils pull up the coil packs one for each spark plug and there you go access to the spark plugs :) easy

on the power front when new it gave 193 bhp and 206.52lbs/ft of torqe enough to pull her to 60 in 7.5 secs not bad for an old girl :) fuel consumption comes in (combined) 26.9 mpg (extra urban) 37.2 mpg and (urban) 18.1 mpg again not bad for a car that has a kerb weight of 1440 kg.

so generally im happy with the car as a comfortable cruiser .
