BMW unveiled its new 3-Series sedan at the Paris Auto Show, and published the first pictures of this 7th generation vehicle.
The new 3-Series looks very much like the old one, but has cleaner, preciser lines. At launch there will be a plug-in hybrid version.
The new 3-Series goes on sale across the world next March.
In Europe, there will be a range of gasoline and diesel engines engine ranging from 190 to 256 hp.
You will be able to buy the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, a digital character that responds to the prompt “Hey BMW”. This will mark the start of a new era for the BMW Group in which drivers will increasingly be able to operate their car and access its functions and information simply by speaking.
BMW’s Intelligent Personal Assistant learns routines and habits, The system learns the driver’s preferences, like places they drive to frequently using the navigation system. It will respond to commands like “Take me home”.
The 3-Series will compete with the Alfa Romeo Giulia, Jaguar XE, Volvo S60, Audi A4 and Mercedes C-class.
According to IHS Markit, BMW is having to up its game because of the improved Mercedes C-class.
“BMW has focused on reducing weight, which will help improve economy and handling. The vehicle loses up to 50 kg (110 lbs) in comparison with the old model depending on the variant, through the use of hot-formed, high-tensile-strength steel,” IHS Markit analyst Tim Urquhart said.
BMW said the starting price in Germany will be €37,850 after tax. In the U.S. it will be $40,200 before tax.
