Bunch of bushings, gaskets, seals, and misc parts showed up (finnaly!). I spent a bit of time and put together the shifter unit. It's a 3 piece design with a bunch of bushings and what not.

I'm still missing 2 boxes of parts and if all goes well, Friday, I'll put every thing together and have a working car by Saturday morning?

Actually scratch that, I'm being way too endeavorous, I have a dirtbike race on Sunday and rather be relaxed then all bent out of shape from working on the car.

At this point the only thing needed is some time to put everything together and get the system bled for a test drive. Hopefully I can have a drivable car by next week and this project is OVER!

For new readers, I'm swapping an automatic transmission from automatic to manual. Its not particularly difficult, but it is a ton of work and unless you know exactly what you are doing will likely take 2 to 3 full days.

New parts showing up are the best feeling in the world. It is like christmas for car guys.

It's exactly like christmas, until you see your credit card bill. My 5 speed swap is almost as much as I paid for the car at this point!

Oooooooooooo. Yeah, that sucks. So you did decide to go with the 5 speed swap instead of automatic rebuild?

Yup. the auto rebuild cost was as high as the 5 speed swap and only a margin less work.

I couldn't find a used auto cheap enough and reliable enough to keep it auto, so 5 speed it went. So far so good, but really pain in the ass having to constantly order parts and bushings that I didn't realize I needed.

Good going man, interested to see the final result. Just don't damage yourself at the dirt bike race too much

I hope not, thanks! I wear the armor and work out to stay fit enough to not be fatigued, so I can ride faster! But sometimes a tree just pops outta no where.

I just followed you and really hope to see some pictures of the E30. What engine does it have?
Never owned a BMW simply because I can't afford one, but if cryptos are mooning this year I will probably buy an E46 330 Ci. Ideal would be an E46 M3, but it's a bit too expansive and I assume maintenance is also.
On the E30 on the other hand I guess is more about mechanics that electric compared with the new generations.
Good luck with your transmission swap!

It's a bone stock 325i. I've got pics all over my page and some new ones just a few minutes ago! The e30 is an expensive car for its age. But in the grand scheme, it's very easy to work on. It's just thst it's a 30 year old car. Im not a fan of new bmw cars. Too expensive for my blood for little gain.
