Chuadanga: A BNP leader was hacked to death by Helalul Islam Helal in Alamdanga upazila of the district. On Saturday, he was hacked to death by sharp weapons while giving irrigation to the rice field.
The deceased was identified as Helalul Islam Khadimpur Union BNP vice president and son of Ekadil Biswas of Jugirhuda village of Alamdanga upazila. He used to work in a silver insurance company.
Locals said, three weeks ago, two drug dealers Yaba and cannabis were found arrested by police, including Manik, son of Hasibul Islam of the same village three weeks ago. After receiving bail, Helal was threatened with several threats. Helalai informed the police about the drug operators and handed them over to the police.
Helal went to give irrigation to the paddy field half a kilometer away from the village on Saturday morning. Some people came and ran away while trying to get up.
Helal was rescued at around 9:30 am and took to the Chuadanga Sadar Hospital. Shamim Kabir declared him dead.
Helal's wife, school teacher Razia Sultana, said that her husband, Manik, son of Hasibul Islam, was being threatened with several different threats.
Chuadanga District BNP joint convener Majibul Haque Malik Maju said Helal Khadimpur Union BNP Vice President. Helal was the father of two daughters and one son.
Helal's nephew, Kairul Islam, said Helal was employed in the company's silver insurance company. There was also farming in the village.
