BoardGame | SET! : The Card Game

Hi,

Today, i would like to share one of my many game because i think people are not well informed about boardgames and cardgames world. For many people, there's just Monopoly, Uno or other games of 80's but nowadays, you have to know that more than 800 games are created every year !
If you like to play games, here is a good one of them ! ;)

Set! is a real time card game invented in 1974 et published many times in many countries. If you like games and you don’t know this one, you have to try it !

Here are differents published editions of the game since more than 30 years :

I bought a recent edition :

The rules are really simple but hard to understand the very first time.

RULES :
All the cards have 4 features :
The Shape : ovals, squiggles or diamonds
The Color : green, red of purple
The Number : one, two or three
The Shading : empty, striped, filled

12 cards of the 81 cards are dealed and displayed on the table and you have to find a SET before other players.

A SET is a combination of 3 cards which satisfy ALL four features conditions :
The 3 cards must have the same Shape OR 3 different shapes,
The 3 cards must have the same Color OR 3 different colors,
The 3 cards must have the same Number OR 3 different Numbers,
The 3 cards must have the same Shade OR 3 different Shades.

Examples :

-->The 3 cards have 3 different shapes : oval, diamond and squiggle.
-->The 3 cards have the same color : all red
-->The 3 cards have 3 different numbers of elements on each card : 1, 2 and 3
-->The 3 cards have the same shade : all filled

Another SET:

-->The 3 cards have the same shape : diamond
-->The 3 cards have 3 different colors
-->The 3 cards have the same number : 2 elements on each card
-->The 3 cards have 3 different shades

Do you get it ? Not yet ? Ok, another one :

-->The 3 cards have 3 different shapes
-->The 3 cards have the same color
-->The 3 cards have 3 different numbers
-->The 3 cards have 3 different shades

Now, you're ready to begin!
Would you find one of the SETs among theses 12 cards ?

Interesting thing :
With a deck of 81 cards and with 12 cards on the table, we have 1 over 33 chance NOT TO have a SET.
In the game, if there is no SET, we just add 3 cards on the table. With 15 cards, we have 1 over 2500 chance NOT to have a SET.
