Blood Bowl

I've heard about the Blood Bowl board game in my junior years (having originally come out in the late 80's).

I've played the PC version of the game - an unforgiving game, to which, everyone yells, "The Computer Cheats!!"

Last night, I was able to play the board game for the first time.

The playing area is quite generous.
It is great to see that they have not downsized the quality of the playing materials.

Two opposing teams, playing a violent version of GridIron, using skill and dice luck, to win the day.

As soon as there is a failed tackle, failed pass, and so on, then that is the end of your turn.
So, you need to be very careful of your order of play.

You slowly get absorbed into the gain.
Wincing at the pain & getting a little buzz when a play pays off.

With, luck, always determining the fortunes and failure to your best laid plan.

We just played with the basic rules as the game have different variations of game style & advanced rules.
You can even play an ongoing campaign/season, with player careers, skill enhancement & long term injuries

I ended up losing; 1 - 0

Even watching the game is delightful.

I watched the second game, and it all came down to a close, 1 : 1 draw, with the Orc team just being 2 steps away from getting their second touch down.

An very enjoyable game with a little bit of complexity to get used to the game rules for different situations.
But, through game play and reading the rules as we went, it made for a great gaming evening.
