Inspired by MOBA video games like League of Legends, Heroes of the Storm, and DOTA. Skytear is a card-driven miniatures game of tactics and field dominance. Players choose or draft their heroes each with their own skill sets. They will use cards and actions to send those heroes into battle trying to attack their opponents' heroes and minions in order to gain the most influence on lanes. Pushing the minions closer to their opponents' towers. Once the players' two towers are defeated they can attack the opponents' nexus. Destroying the opponents' nexus wins the game. If the players manage to draw the game out beyond 5 turns the game ends in a draw. Players may also win by completing one of several victory cards selected at the beginning.
Skytear is a good strategy game. It’s designed for 2-4 players though we have found that it feels better with a 2 or 4 players. 3 players kind of gets mixed up in strategy for who controls what characters. The miniatures are really detailed. I’ve been tempted to paint these figures once I get the expansions for it. Skytear feels like a good cross between miniature game and a board game.
The game has the base starter game which is what we currently have in our library.
The expansions that are available add heroes and tactics to the games.
Skytear: Kurumo, Skytear: Liothan, Skytear Nupten, Skytear: Outsiders, and Skytear Taulot.
