I always stress preparation for a disaster, although I don't consider myself a "prepper" in the traditional sense of the term. Preppers tend to be more anti-government, which I am not; however, there may be times that you will not be able to rely on the government to serve and to protect you. In fact, the government might even see you as a threat (in a worst-case scenario), so I tend to get ready for the worst and to hope for the best.
Body armor is an expensive tool, but it can give you an extended lease on life in the right situations. California is an anti-gun state. They justify banning guns, because you can kill people with a bullet. The California legislature went too far one time, though. They tried to ban body armor in 2014. When was the last time someone was killed by body armor?
The fact, that they tried to ban body armor, demonstrates that their bans are not intended to protect citizens. Their bans are intended to make it easier to control the population, for the only ones, who will have guns after a ban, will be the government. That is a dangerous path to take, and it sets the groundwork for tyrannical government (which I am DEFINITELY against). This is why I recommend getting body armor and firearms, before it's too late.
