Bodybuilding: Cardio vs Weight Training

BEST WAY TO LOSE WEIGHT

Good day everyone. I have noticed there are not many articles (I haven't found any, actually) with tags that relate to bodybuilding or fat loss in general, so I thought i'd give it a shot. I would like to discuss what method is better for losing fat on one's body. First, let's look at what is the difference between cardio and weightlifting:

CARDIO

Cardio refers to Aerobic Exercise. It is physical exercise of low to high intensity. This includes but is not limited to running/jogging, cycling, swimming, or even brisk walks. It is often the first option that comes to mind when thinking about weight loss.

WEIGHT LIFTING

This refers to types of strength training for developing the strength and size of skeletal muscles. It uses the force of gravity in the form of weighted bars, dumbbells. Weight training uses a variety of equipment to target specific muscle groups and types of movement. It may be though of the first option when someone wants to build muscle and look bigger.

DIFFERENCE

What many people may not know, is that Weight Lifting can be used as a primary activity for fat loss. Cardio does help with calorie loss but it breaks down one's existing tissues leaving a soft and skinny fat-like physique. One needs to lift heavy weights to get a more toned look.

One burns more calories when doing cardio, but this stops when your workout ends. Weight training is different because when training stops, your body keeps burning fat. This makes your body a powerful fat burning machine over the long term. Not only do you get a body that looks tight, toned, and fit, you have the added advantage of a body that burns calories while you are resting - this includes sleeping throughout the night.

Sprinting may go hand in hand with weight training as it is one of the most versatile forms of exercise. It builds power and speed, increases muscle size, destroys body fat, and increases muscular endurance.

Conclusion

One may conclude that although cardio is important and is used to help assist in creating a heart healthy body , it should not be used as the primary function to weight loss. Weight training has great potential to give one a desired look they are after without losing muscle mass in the process. It is important to keep muscle in the process of fat loss otherwise one may look thin and sickly instead of muscular and toned.
