The Dabangg girl Sonakshi Sinha is the daughter of actor couple Shatrughan Sinha and Poonam Sinha. Prior to movies, her interest was in fashion designing and even worked as a fashion designer. However, fate had something else in store for her, when she made her Bollywood debut in the 2010 action drama 'Dabangg'. Subsequently, she was seen in many movies, but the roles she took were not enough to show her acting talent.
Sonakshi was seen in many hit movies such as 'Rowdy Rathore', 'Son of Sardaar', 'Dabangg 2', 'Holiday' where there was not much for her as an actor to perform. However, she gave a superb performance in the movie 'Lootera' in which she received critical acclaim.

Early Life
Sonakshi Sinha is the youngest child of Shatrughan and Poonam after twin brothers, Luv and Kush. Sonakshi completed her schooling from Arya VidyaMandir in Mumbai and got a fashion designing degree from the S.N.D.T women's university, Mumbai. She started working as a fashion designer and then went on to work as a costume designer in the movie 'Mera Dil Leke Dekho' in the year 2005.

2010 - 2013: Debut and Initial Success
Sonakshi Sinha made her acting and Bollywood debut with the movie 'Dabangg' opposite Salman Khan in the year 2010. The Salman Khan starrer went on to become a blockbuster, thereby giving Sonakshi a dream debut. She looked confident in all her scenes and performed well in spite of it being her first movie. Not many know that Sonakshi Sinha had to lose 30 kgs for her role in the movie and this is where her mentor Salman Khan's support came handy.
In the year 2012, Sonakshi had a slew of releases with the first one being 'Rowdy Rathore'. Although the movie opened to mixed reactions, it went on to become a blockbuster with good box office collections. However, her performance was criticized as she had an insignificant role in the movie. She was then seen in the movie 'Joker' which was a disaster at the box office. Subsequently, she was seen in the comedy 'Son of Sardaar'. The movie went on to become a huge economic success in spite of not having good reviews. Her final movie of the year was 'Dabangg 2' which too was a huge success but her role lacked depth.
Finally she gave a trust worthy performance that of an actor in the 2013 movie 'Lootera'. Although the movie did not fare as expected at the box office, her performance was appreciated by critics for the first time in her career. Not only that, she also got a role worth her talent and she did complete justice to it. Later, she was seen in the movie 'Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobaara!'. The movie did not fare well at the box office and her performance was criticized. She then appeared in a flop 'Bullett Raja' and finally in the movie 'R… Rajkumar'. The movie was a moderate success where her performance received negative reviews and was labeled 'repetitive' having done similar roles in her past movies.
2014 - Present: Moderate Success
Sonakshi's first movie in the year 2014 was 'Holiday' opposite Akshay Kumar where again she did not had much to offer in the movie. The movie was a hit, but again her acting was criticized. Subsequently, she was seen in the movie 'Action Jackson' that flopped. In the same year, she made her Kollywood debut opposite the south super star Rajinikanth in the movie 'Lingaa'.
In the year 2015, she was seen in the movie 'Tevar' which saw moderate success at the box office. She was once again criticized for performing similar kind of roles. Critics said that she appears content playing such roles and doing some dance numbers in movies.

Sonakshi Sinha is just six years old in Bollywood and has done quite a good number of movies. However, the roles that she got were not enough to get nominated and win awards. So far, she has won only one Filmfare award as Best Female Debut for the movie 'Dabangg' in the year 2011.
