Every day we are expected to fight, for entertainment and profit. We are groomed by our media. Groomed by the platforms we use. Data harvested and fed back to us. Fight, fight, fight.

We are good at recognising evil when it is fed to us on a plate, on a stump, in a meme or a soundbite. By people who have a vested interest in us not seeing a bigger picture.

Boohoo had a fantastic lockdown. Everyone agreed they were a massive success. A family fast fashion business - how could they do it? How could they have all that stock on turnaround, even as the lockdown paralysed their entire industry.

It's funny isn't it, that the evils of the seventeenth century are so clear to us. We can tear down all the statues, but back then we'd all have been buying the damn sugar. Telling each other we couldn't believe how cheap it was. Justifying our actions by saying everyone was doing it.

If it wasn't Leicester it would be Bangladesh. What's the difference?

All the stockists, all the investors, all the customers... just overjoyed to get stuff cheap. To make money hand over fist.

Three hundred years from now your descendants will tear down statues of guys like Jeff Bezos.

Your goods are cheap because somebody exploited a system. And you can pretend that your goods are cheap because of technology, or scale, or just great business sense, but somewhere, out of sight there are workers being exploited. Suppliers being exploited. Governments being exploited.

Real people, who are not plutocrats.

If you want to know who your real enemy is, he's sat on a gold plated yacht laughing his fucking head off.

One day, I keep saying. One day.
