Written in 1948, 1984 was George Orwell’s prophecy about the future, really dark future. Orwell describes a futuristic totalitarian society whose oligarchic authorities use the latest achievement of technology and psychology to keep people in subjection. If you believe in some conspiracy theories, i recommend you to read this book.

The main character of the book is Winston Smith,he is a member of the Outer Party. He works in the Records Department in the Ministry of Truth, rewriting and distorting history to satisfy the demands of his superiors and the Ministry of Truth. There are 4 Ministrys: Ministry of Truth(propagating lies in the spheres of information, entertainment, education, culture), The Ministry of Peace (whose authority is to maintain constant tension and tension through a non-existent state of war), The Ministry of Abundance (constantly announces false prosperity in the economy) and the Ministry of Love (Takes care that people are "evaporated", if they were in in any way mimics, thoughts, speaking in a dream, speaking ,consciously or unconsciously shown their dissatisfaction with the existing totalitarian system).

Over the time Winston begins to grows hate to the Party that seeks power for its own sake. Winston begins a diary (whitch is an act punishable by death). Telescreens can see everyone and there is no way to escape their views, and there are placed everywhere in his home, in the cafeteria, in his cubicle at work . His every move is watched. There is no place where he or enyone is safe. One day Winston catches the eye of an Inner party member, O'Brien, whom he think is an friend, he also catches the eye of a girl from the fiction department, whom he think is his enemy. Few days later Julia, the girl he thought was his enemy gave him a note that reads, "I love you". As the time was passing they were in love and the want to bring down the system and join the Brotherhood (an underground organization aimed at bringing down the Party) with their leader, Emmanuel Goldstein, former ally of Big Brother, turned to enemy. Eventualy Julija and Winston go to confess to O'Brien, whom they believe to be a member of the Brotherhood their hatred of the Party. O'Brien welcomes them into the Brotherhood and arranges for Winston to be given a copy of "the book," the underground's treasonous volume written by their leader. Winston manage to get a safe room where he and Julia could go, talk and think of a plan to bring down Big Brother.

George Orwell (1903-1950) was born in Motihari, India, and his real name was Erik Bler. He studied at Ion, after which he decided to be employed as a police officer in Burma, and later as a harbor worker. After returning to England and showing sympathy for socialism, in 1928 he moved to Paris, where he lived as a homeless person. He participated in the Spanish Civil War, on the side of the Republicans. During the Second World War, despite the desire to go to the front, he was declared incapable of serving a military service, and he worked as a BBC journalist.

“Until they became conscious they will never rebel, and until after they have rebelled they cannot become conscious.”

“Power is in tearing human minds to pieces and putting them together again in new shapes of your own choosing.”

If you want to read this book don't read anymore - SPOILER ALERT

In their safe room Wintston was reading a book with Julia napping by his side. They heard a noise behind a painting and discover a telescreen. They were watched all the time, workers of the ministry came in and Julia and Winston were dragged away and separated. Winston was inside the Ministry of Love. Finally, O'Brien comes, and Winston tought that O'Brien was also caught, but he realizes that O'Brien is there to torture him. The Party had knew of Winston's "crimes" all along. O'Brien spends the next few months torturing Winston. After some time, O'Brien takes Winston to Room 101, room where prisoners meet their greatest fears. Winston had big fear for rats. O'Brien places over Winston's head a mask and threatens to open the door to release rats on Winston's face, when Winston screamed, "Do it to Julia!" he was surely changed. They let him go as a changed man. He saw Julia again. She too, was changed, she was older and less attractive. She admited to him that she also betrayed him in the Ministry of Love.

For me this book was so interesting and i can say that this book changed my way of thinking. When you read this bokk you just can't belive that it was written 70 years ago. Did Orwell predicted some things about the future, it's on you to decide.
