We all have our goals in life; the things we strive for; the decisions we make; the paths we take - and we stress ourselves out; stretch ourselves too thin; always taking on more than we think we can handle. We allow these things to put us into a depression, a rut in the road that we cannot seem to get ourselves out of; often feeling miserable and alone...
There is no rule in life, however, that says we have to make this journey through life all by ourselves and completely isolated; we are not alone....
Ever since I started my #Bookstagram journey, I have met so many interesting, talented people, who not only share my love for reading but who also each have their own passions.
I have also discovered, and learned to accept, that I have limitations and boundaries; that I don't have to like something and be ridiculed about it.
One of my limitations, it seems, is that even though I enjoy change, I don't necessarily want change to affect me too much...
For example; my favourite genre is Fantasy; I live for it - it is my one true escape! I also like a little scifi sprinkled in every now and then... but I also want to diversify my reading habits (there are so many good books out there) but I am always reluctant to pick up something outside of my comfort zone.
So I decided to invite some incredible people to help me become more diverse... and help you maybe find your next favourite read - who knows?
Each of these lovely ladies have been an inspiration to me, in one way or another, and I hope they will be an inspiration to you, too!
EDUCATING YOUNG MINDS!
Hey lovelies! I am super excited for the chance to join the Mr. Pink-Ink Blog Team!
I am Esli...probably better known by my Instagram handle insignificant.beauties I am a South African, a wife ,a mommy(the reason I drink copious amounts of coffee...I’m not complaining about this btw, coffee is the best and delicious and it helps me... Addict? Me? Neeeever🤣) and I LOVE BOOKS! Lol... I only recently discovered my absolute passion for reading and consequently started my “Bookstagram” account. Last month I took the plunge and started my own blog for book reviews.
After my first Young Adult Fantasy novel, I was hooked on this genre, but I also enjoy Young Adult Contemporary books and I’ll never say no to a good thriller or other non YA books. Furthermore my heart has been captured by Middle-Grade books and since I’m a mommy of two girlies and I adore beautiful Illustrations; I have a great fondness for children's books. I’m so happy that I’ll be able to share some of my Middle-Grade and Kiddie book treasures with you!
Much love
PS. My favourite colour is pink!
MARY, MARY, QUITE....CONTEMPORARY?
Hello! My name is Zakiyya and I am the founder of thebookishnerd blog and bookstagram. Before I get into that, I thought I'd tell you a little bit about myself. I am South African Indian and a Muslim. I am also a middle child and a student in my final year of high school. I am generally a very optimistic person and quite introverted until you get to know me.
I have been an avid reader since I first learnt how to read and that love for books and words never really went away, if anything it only grew stronger as the years went by and I was exposed to more and more literature. I have also always had a creative spark in me that needs constant nourishment, so I decided to combine two of my favorite hobbies- reading and photography- and thebookishnerd bookstagram was born (almost 3 years ago now!). It is genuinely one of my favourite things to do. I love meeting bookworms from every corner of the world, chatting about books and taking pretty pictures of them.
I mainly read contemporary and YA contemporary which I know really isn't everyone's cup of tea but I'll be speaking more about why I love the genre so much in my upcoming guest posts right here on Jacques blog. My contributions will be centered around all things contemporary, so stay tuned.
Other than that, I enjoy baking and quite naturally writing, even though I'm not very good at it. I might even post some recipes up here once in a while.
A huge thank you to Jacques for asking me to be a contributor. It is such a pleasure to be able to write about something that I'm so passionate about.

AND THAT'S A FACT!
I can't remember a time when books were not a part of my life. One of my favorite childhood memories is of my school librarian telling my 7 year old self that I was allowed to check out the "older kids" books. I was suddenly transported from Dr. Suess to Farley Mowat and C. S. Lewis (among other favorites), and I've never looked back.
I have very eclectic reading tastes. One month I may read only fantasy, the next month may involve Russian classics and the history of tulips. All I ask is the book I choose be well-written and engaging, regardless the subject matter. Believe me, as a true Sagittarius, I'll be the first to tell you when a story falls flat but also the first to praise the new modern-day classic.
Fiction is my escape, but non-fiction is my continuing education. At any given time I have some sort of non-fiction going: world history, sociology, psychology, science, the list is endless! I'm also a fan of true crime and tell-all Hollywood memoirs.
Thank you again Mr. Pink Ink for inviting me to share my thoughts and recommendations in non-fiction. I am excited to be a part of the Pink Ink team and look forward to sharing my love of non-fiction will all of you!
Happy Reading!!
