It's true that in some ways robots haven't caught up to us yet, but I think that the acceleration of technology improvement will mean these improvements will come over night. One minute, we'll be thinking that robots can't overtake us. The next minute, they will have overtaken us. In a recent post, I argued that before robots can be accepted we will need to eliminate, or be very close to eliminating, global poverty and hunger. Otherwise, robots will become the focus of wrath of the havenots. That'll be a shame because I think robot worlds could see human beings looking out for their fellow-man in a way never seen before in society. Having little or no work to do, people may well become lifelong volunteers. This would certainly give people the sense of worth that they'd now be missing, in our new, jobless world. I look forward to the next chapter.
