Book Review: Ready Player One

I really enjoyed this book and it was very well written and easy to read. It is set in the future when the economy has all but collapsed. There is a virtual world called the Oasis and when the programmer of the Oasis died he left his fortune to the person who could discover the easter egg he hid in the code. The main character Wade competes with other gamers and an evil corporation called IOI to find the egg first and claim the prize.

The parts I enjoyed the most were the constant references to 1980's nerd culture, everything from D&D, video games, TV, movies and music.

This will soon be a major motion picture March 2018 directed by Steven Spielberg, but based on the trailer it looks like they have taken some liberties. The trailer does looks pretty cool though.
