I survived my first year of college. Not sure how, but I did it. My major sucks – I want to change to physics. Not sure how to broach the subject with my parents. Maybe if I offer to pay for half of my school? I did enroll into an astronomy class, next fall.
It is stupid – I feel a little more on track by adding one class to my schedule. One great thing about college -- plenty of cute boys. Another great thing – 24 hour gym. It took all year, but I am ready for the beach season for the first time in my entire life. My friend from college, Kate, invited Carolyn and I to stay a whole month with her at the beach. Kate is blessed with a trust fund and a good heart.
Carolyn and I watched all year as people would try to take advantage of her. Kate is smart cookie and fail they all did. As smart as I am, I didn’t notice how close the three of us had become. Carolyn slipped, one day in front of Kate, noticed my faraway gaze, and asked, “Missing George?” Kate, “Who is George? Oh, do tell.”
Carolyn apologized, but I was already beat red. I fessed to Kate. Then Carolyn bragged about my amazing story telling abilities. Apparently, she was determined to keep me a permanent shade of dark red. Kate suggested we have dinner and study, at her place. I was being setup.
Carolyn and I stopped to get a little hostess type gift, for Kate. We may be on a budget, but we have manners. This was the first time we had been to Kate’s place and were pleasantly surprised to see a very down-to-Earth college kid’s first apartment. Yes, the furniture was beautiful, but the place was small and quaint.
We made dinner together. It was a lot of fun to be myself and have no one judging me. While we were eating, Carolyn back
tracked to the George moment from earlier in the day. I explained that in my head May 23 was important to the George daydreams. I did not understand why, only that is extremely important.
We finished the dishes and studied “some”, before they finally begged me for a story. I obliged and told them about the time I survived a terrorist attack, while on Mars. They wanted to hear more about George and I.
Then I told them about the time I brought him and his entire class to a stunned silence over a very passionate kiss that was meant to reassure George – we were going to be amazing together, aboard the Daedalus. I spent several hours telling stories to them. Next thing I knew, Kate had invited us to the beach for a month. Woot!
My Current Give Back Programs
10% of the SBD earnings from this post are set aside to fund domestic abuse projects that are designed and maintained by @clevercreator – I am currently working towards building a long-term assistance program.
20% of the SBD from this post will be given back to the SteemIt Community through the amazing folks I find while doing my curation rounds.
As my earnings grow, these percentages will go up as well.
Every post that exceeds $100, and then multiples of 100 ($200, $300, $400, etc.), I will send out a book (used books that need good homes), WITH a handwritten note signed by yours truly, @clevercreator – But wait there are rules…
• Your comment must be the most voted
• Include in your comment what you would like to focus on in the letter (maybe something to encourage you or an idea that you need help with)
• For every multiple of $100 this post earns, that many folks can will be able to win…so if the post earns $311.13, then there will be 3 wonderful folks that will see this book and letter come to them
• You address must be deliverable by standard mail – I am sorry, at this time, I cannot afford a courier
• Yes, you can live outside the United States and win
