Baby girl, you are going to laugh at me. I finally had to hit the recdec. I needed the beach – my soul was craving our beach and our home, on Earth. The smells, sand, and sense of safety. I missed Annapolis, if only for a brief moment. You will be proud of me. I spent 12 hours working on your project – while hanging out at our home. Most of it, I spent parked on a beach towel, surrounded by datapads. Sean and Alex came by for a few hours.
There are some definite perks to being in the 81st century. I do not have to leave the Daedalus to go home for the day. I did ask the computer to leave out the people. It was nice to have a boys' day. While the Daedalus does a job good with the holograms, our home never smells as good as our real home. You are constantly trying to reason with her to fix it and begging Alex to using his coding skills to help her along.
My emotions have settled down. They threaten, every once in a while, to take my sanity if I do not take five minutes to meditate. Sean is on me, constantly, about it. He put it simply, “How the hell are you going to bring Lizzy home, if you are forced to take a leave of absence?”
Towards the end of my day, I curled up on the couch and pulled up vids of the 3 of you while you were on the front lines. I left all the windows open, to be able to hear the waves crashing into the shore. Yes, I asked for bigger waves than what we truly have in Chesapeake Bay. I have heard stories about your days and knew better than to think that was the entire story.
The computer said you spent a total of 60 days (separate times and not all overnight visits) in combat hospitals or ships’ sickbays. What?! You were gone for 24 months and two months were spent being treated for combat injuries. I had no idea. Alex spent a total of one month being treated.
Alex’s year in the hospital, well, that is not something I want to deal with yet. I am frustrated to find out that my wife felt she could not tell me, about all the injuries, which only lasts for a brief second when I think about my horrible reaction to an injury you sustained, during our first month on board the Daedalus. You forgave me, but just barely.
List of the vids that I watched:
Forgot your helmet incident -- two weeks in an induced coma in goo
Hot landing
Another hot landing
Hand to hand combat – 1 week in goo
A fight with Alex, no witnesses (comm witnessed, but then neither of you reported each other. Cannot imagine why.)
A compilation of expected war scrapes
I would be upset, except, these vids help convince my heart that wherever you are – Lizzy, you will survive. You took a two year beating and came out as carefree as the day I met you.
Loving you more than ever,
George
My Current Give Back Programs
10% of the SBD earnings from this post are set aside to fund domestic abuse projects that are designed and maintained by @clevercreator – I am currently working towards building a long-term assistance program.
20% of the SBD from this post will be given back to the SteemIt Community through the amazing folks I find while doing my curation rounds.
As my earnings grow, these percentages will go up as well.
Every post that exceeds $100, and then multiples of 100 ($200, $300, $400, etc.), I will send out a book (used books that need good homes), WITH a handwritten note signed by yours truly, @clevercreator – But wait there are rules…
• Your comment must be the most voted
• Include in your comment what you would like to focus on in the letter (maybe something to encourage you or an idea that you need help with)
• For every multiple of $100 this post earns, that many folks can will be able to win…so if the post earns $311.13, then there will be 3 wonderful folks that will see this book and letter come to them
• You address must be deliverable by standard mail – I am sorry, at this time, I cannot afford a courier
• Yes, you can live outside the United States and win
• You must have an active SteemIt account at the time the post pays out
• Of course, the most important rule – have fun and get the discussion going
• If you will pay too much in taxes, outside the US, tell me, and I will send you a small e-gift card from Amazon
