George would be so flustered to learn that I have quit school. My parents are disappointed – I don’t care. I could not handle the constant negative, “Oh, Lizzy, please be realistic. You can’t do that. You should do this.” I was going to stay in school, when I advised them I was planning on living on campus next semester. They went on the lecture path, “What a waste of money.”
Screw it! I know I am running away and that my self-esteem is at an all-time low. I have fallen in love with a guy that will never be anything more than he is right now. For now, I am just happy to have a moment of peace from the ever present struggle between my dreams and my cold dead reality.
I am embarrassed by my current situation that I have cut almost all ties with my past. The only friend, that I still have contact with, is Carolyn. I got rid of all my “Fleet” items (books, comics, etc.). I kept a small box of items that are now buried in the back of the closet.
I feel so stupid. My gut instinct tells me that being a grown-up is not supposed to be this hard. Sure, mistakes happen. Life should be filled with friends, family, laughter, and just being me. Nope – not this life. My first serious relationship and here we are sitting on an old crappy couch watching television. There is work, TV, and cleaning the house. I am constantly asking myself how did this happen? Will I ever get to be Amazing Lizzy?
Lost Lizzy is back with a vengeance.
