A number of years ago I saw a video by a guy that looked at the manna story in exodus and made a solid case that the manna actually was a specific type of shrooms. The story really got into my head, and later, after having watched some videos on Allegro's work, I ended up using it as inspiration for a short story about an atheist finding himself in a mushroom based afterlife. It is an intriguing idea with many possibilities, but for some reason some people can get quite agitated when you explore any of them. My short story gave me some blow back even though it was just fiction. The guy who did the Exodus video took his vid offline. I'dd imagine this might also be due to unpleasant interactions with the easily offended crowd that I got a mild sample off.
