Books are a way of understanding our history, good and bad.

Six Dr. Suess books have been banned from public sale (new books from the publisher) on Amazon.com. Some people are selling their old ones for thousands of dollars! But don't worry, Mein Kampf is still available to the public for cheap!

Banning or making unavailable books is never a good idea. Will our fire departments be burning banned books soon, as in Fahrenheit 451? Maybe that book should be banned, too.

The only purpose of banning books is to make the population more ignorant, and that should never be the goal of any business or government. There is only one side of the political spectrum that is actively banning books, in case you have not noticed.

Taking a book out of print and trying to burn every copy of the book in existence are two very different things. I understand that we can get carried away trying to suppress any/every voice we find offensive. But when the knee-jerk reaction is to cry "cancel culture!" at every attempt to push back against our nation's long history of racism, even with symbolic gestures that harm no one (e.g., doing away with Aunt Jemima), at every effort to hold people (on our side) accountable for their words/actions, and at every action taken by private companies to prevent incitement of further violence and spreading of deadly anti-science propaganda by those who breathe lies, I'd say it's the other extreme we should be worried about. You're not being persecuted; you've just internalized the victim identity you've been sold by those manipulating you.
