To read or listen, that is the question

So, I've been an avid reader for most of my life. I love losing myself in a good story. A couple years ago, I started having a ridiculously long commute to work. In my city, drivers are idiots and I was spending 2 to 3 hours a day in my vehicle. I was losing my mind!

Then, I discovered audio books. No, I didn't live under a rock. Logically, I knew they existed, I had just never saw the appeal. Turns out, I just hadn't heard the right narrators.

I was getting really sick of the radio, with their 9 minutes of commercials per 5 minutes of music. So I signed up for a free trial at Audible and downloaded a couple books.

I was lucky enough to select a book with an incredible narrator. In case you're wondering, it was Jonathon Mayberry's Joe Ledger series, narrated by Ray Porter.

So, there I was, enthralled in a story, and the next thing I knew, I'm pulling into my driveway. I wasn't stressed out by trafgic at all and the time past easily.

In essence, audio books saved my sanity.

I still love sitting down with a good book, but I have become obsessed with finding good author and narrator combos because 3 hours a day in the car has me burning through a ton of audio books!
