When I was a kid, my father always gave me the order to read 10 pages a day. Back in the day a hated it so much, but time passed by and now I love reading so much.
Reading is a very important part of our lifes, but have you ever asked what the importance of it is and what it actually does with our brains.
Reading and our brains
I have been doing research on the internet to see if there any articles about this topic. I found this great article about, that reading fiction can actually improve brain connectivity and brain function. How is it possible? Well the answer is pretty simple, when you watch a movie, and you see all the characters that are pre-made for you, you don't use your own fantasy to create them, they have already been made for you. When you read a book, you try to imagine how the main character will look like that is described in the book, so you use your brains.
Reading books is like a training for our brains. Can you imagine the time we are living in now. We live in a time where we don't read we just believe the posts on facebook. We don't research and read. We have become very lazy. We have become people that like to watch movies instead of reading a great book. It is also very bad for the children. The brain of a child is very much absorbing everything. When children do not read and only watch, they won't have their own imaginary world and they have no creativity.
Change your reading habits
Some people may tell you that nobody reads a book, don't be one of them. Instead be a person that reads a book daily even if it is for only 10 minutes. Don't hesitate. Create a reading plan everyday. Start with reading one page everyday. After a week try to make it 2 pages a day. Build this habit it will really help you. You will see after a while how much your vocabulary has changed. Another strange thing is, that you start looking at things differently. Spend less time on netflix or youtube, and spend more time on books.
As I said, make a little schedule for one week. Within a couple of months you will see something change. You will get wiser and feel maar satisfied. Books are also a great source for anti-depression. When you read a great novel, you will forget everything around you and you will live in your own fantasy. I tell you, this feeling is great.
