The Count of Monte Cristo is a novel by French author Alexandre Dumas (the father), which he completed in 1844.
The story of this novel takes place in France, Italy, and islands in the Mediterranean during the historical events of 1815–1839. It begins just before the time when Napoleon returned to power after his exile.
The main themes of the novel are hope, justice, vengeance, mercy, and forgiveness.
I haven't actually read the book, but seen different tv and movie adaptions. And in general they are great. Fantastic story. I guess I have to get around to reading the actual book :) Thanks for the tip. It wouldn't hurt to give a little more info about the plot though :)

Yeah, the movies are great. I love the one with Gerard Depardieu; you are welcome; ok, next time I'll give a bit more info :) But I thought, the story is well-known
