I spent 20$, got less then 20 what is up with that?

The 100% upvote that @booster provides has a value of between $90-100 depending on the current value of Steem, as the chart shows - your contribution gives you a % of that upvote.

If you put $20 in and so do 5 other people the bid is $120 on a $90-100 max upvote. In this example it would be 100/6= $16.66

This can help you decide on whether you would like to bid. I think a lot of people neglect this resulting in bids on a negative return.
