Boris Johnson sent a request note to extend the Brexit deadline to the European Union as forced by the British parliament. Johnson, who opposes a further delay to Brexit after a deal was reached between the two parties last week, left the request note unsigned.
Along with the request note was Johnson’s signed letter detailing his arguments on the requested delay, which he said was deeply corrosive.
Chairman of EU leaders Donald Tusk said that the EU must treat Britain’s request to extend the Brexit deadline in all seriousness.
“I have no doubt that we should treat the British request for an extension in all seriousness,” Tusk told the European parliament after the Brexit debate.
The requested extension was until Jan. 31.
Ten days before the Brexit deadline, Oct. 31, Britain’s politicians still argue about leaving the EU with or without a deal, or to hold a referendum. As of now, Brexit is still in disarray.
