Due to the spread of blast in a boro paddy field in different districts of the country including Chuadanga, Meherpur, Jhenaidah, Kushtia, Jessore, there is a possibility of some disruption in production. Many farmers in this will be financially damaged. However, since the last year's production is high, expectations will increase as the production increases. The Department of Agricultural Extension said that already the rice harvest has started in different areas of the country. Especially in early haor areas rice is harvested. In the last monsoon, there was an estimated 3 million tons of crop damage in the region.
According to the sources, Boro cultivation target is estimated to be 47 lakh 25 thousand hectares in the country this season. But the amount of plantation has exceeded 49 lakh hectares. Besides the availability of sufficient fertilizer, continuous irrigation, timely rainfall and weather favorable in addition to the cultivation of more than the target, it is expected that the bumper bumper will be harvested now.
On April 8, the Ministry of Food and Expenditure Committee meeting in the Secretariat said on behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture, this year, there will be production of 1 crore 90 lakh tonnes of boro rice in the country. But suddenly the blast attack is expected to reduce production.
According to the Department of Agricultural Extension, till now the Boro area of 15 districts attacked the blast disease. The affected districts are Bogra, Gaibandha, Chuadanga, Jessore, Jhenaidah, Magura, Kushtia, Meherpur, Satkhira, Chandpur, Sherpur, Mymensingh, Jamalpur, Moulvibazar and Kishoreganj. Due to this disease, the half-pound rice is getting scratched. There is nothing going on after giving medicine. The affected farmers are gathering in the local agricultural office.
In this regard, Director General of the Department of Agricultural Extension Mohammad Mohsin said that Boro paddy has now risen across the country, somewhere in the beginning of the harvest. Now there is nothing to panic about Blast's attack. Responding to a question, he said that this will not affect Boro's total production. Hopefully, the production of Boro rice will exceed 20 million tonnes.
Anwar Faruque, former director general of Seed Wing, said that the blast attack in wheat and paddy fields in the country for the past few years has been going on. Because it is a disease-borne disease, so before planting, the seeds must be purified. But the government will have to take special programs to clear the blast.
