Boston Bruins beat the Arizona Coyotes 2-1 to start their 3 Game Road Trip

The Boston Bruins hit the road to start their road Trip against the 29th Place Arizona Coyotes in what has to be a must win game for the Bruins. The Bruins are a far superior team talent wise to Arizona. In my opinion the Arizona Team which on average loses 20 million per season, should be moved to Quebec City, where NHL fans are begging for a team. However the NHL wants a team in Arizona because of the TV market, and the need to market the NHL for advertising and tv rights. So, the NHL takes a hit every year by having a NHL team in Arizona to make it up on the back end by garnering larger TV contracts that more than cover the cost.

Bruins miss Many Goal Scoring Chances

The Bruins won this game 2-1, however this game could have easily been 6-0 by the time Arizona got their first goal. The Bruins hit the post twice on great goal scoring opportunities before they netted their first goal. The Boston Bruins were technically out shot in the game 29-32, but the Bruins basically dominated play throughout and had far better and far more plentiful scoring opportunities. David Pastrnak must have had 4 one timer chances in great scoring positions and only cashed in on one of them. Arizona spent a huge portion of the game scrambling around trying to block shots on rebounds with bodies flying in all directions around their net. How more goals weren't scored by the Bruins is just pure luck for Arizona.

Practice Makes Perfect, Bergeron Marchand and Pastrnak combine for a Sick Faceoff Goal

The Bruins top line of Bergeron Marchand and Pastrnak have obviously been working on set plays in the offensive zone. Before the faceoff Bergeron whispered something to Pastrnak, probably "hey remember that play we practiced" or something like that, maybe some code word like "tango down" lolz. Whatever he said, the play worked to perfection; Bergeron won the faceoff (one of 19 out of 24 he would win on the night), moved the puck to Marchand on the cycle, who hit Pastrnak for a one timer right in the sweet spot between the circles, and Pastrnak drilled home the game winning goal.

Pastrnak now has 10 goals on the season despite missing two games to suspension. Pastrnak is basically tearing it up this year. With 10 goals in 13 GP, Pastrnak is on pace for 63 goals this season. Obviously this pace will slow down at some point. However at the moment Pastrnak is lighting the lamp with regularity.

Bright Spots for the Lowly Coyotes

I thought the play of two young players on the Coyotes was pretty solid. Max Domi the son of the extremely pugnacious retired Tie Domi, one of the NHL's all time great fighters was really solid. Max Domi has emerged as a solid NHL player after being drafted in the First Round. Also Anthony Duclair played a really solid game for Arizona. Both players were +/- 0 on the night. Domi had 2 SOG and Duclair had 1 SOG (SOG = Shot on Goal). Both players I thought were the most talented Coyotes players, and at times were so fast the Bruins had trouble handling their speed. I would bet in the future these two will combine for a lot of points if they can add a better team around them. The Coyotes goalie Louis Domingue also played very well stopping 27 of 29 shots, and having to scramble most of the night as the Bruins dominated play.

Brandon Carlo won his first NHL Fight

Brandon Carlo squared off against Brad Richardson. I personally think Carlo won this fight, as he had Richardson in a head lock and nailed Richardson with a hard hook, that was the last punch of the fight. However NHL fans disagree and on NHL fights people voted 47% say Richardson won and 21% say Carlo won, the rest said draw. I would go with draw or Carlo won but what do you the reader think? See video above if you didn't catch the fight live. Looking forward to your comments everyone!

Conclusion For the Bruins

The Bruins won another game against a bad team, where Tuuka played really well stopping 31 of 32 shots. The Bruins should have won this game by a far larger margin. This game doesn't tell us much other than the Bruins won a game they should have won. The Bruins next game against Colorado the very next day will tell us a lot more about where this Bruins team is at right now.
