Hello, dear Steemians.
Today, while I was deleting files from my phone's memory to free up some space, I came across these pictures. I had shot them about 15 days ago while taking a walk but I had completely forgotten about them. To my surprise, while researching on the internet I found very interesting information about it and I'd love to share it with you.
Dieffenbachia seguine
It Is an ornamental plant native to South America and the Caribbean Islands. From the Araceae family, it Is one of the most famous and cultivated plants because of its eye-catching combination of colors and height. It can grow up to 2 meters.
However, this exotic combination of colors and beauty hides a secret. It is a very toxic plant that can cause serious damage to our children, pets, and even to ourselves.
The poisonous effect of the dieffenbachia plant happens because the plant contains needle-shaped oxalate crystals, (oxalic acid) as well as asparagines, a protein found in the plant. When the leaf is chewed, these crystals will cause a burning sensation. The Gardening Cook
If we decide to have it at home we must be careful of the contact we or our family has with it because the poison is transmitted through the juice in the plant. In case we touch it then is necessary to wash our hands and avoid touching our eyes or face because can cause swollen or even worse problems.
Thank you so much for reading.
Best regards,
Rima❤
