Exposing those authors to the rest of the community, I think it's an excellent start. Maybe the public derision will not solve anything but definitely adds a milligram of stress at the time of committing its abuse.

From the example above there does seem to be some kind of a fishy trend, there does seem to be a lot of shady practices going on among many other users making huge amounts, even those pretending to be saints aka 'helpful' citizen's . Doesn't take rocket science to see the massive hypocrisy among many popular user's.
However, I'm confused, if the maker's of this platform have made it to be allowed last minute upvoting why are regular user's deciding its abusive? Why are you considering it abusive period? I am not taking sides, but I think the clarification would be helpful to everyone new to Steemit.
