How is the first flower called? We have a farmer here who sell them and they come in so many colors and even different forms. They are beautiful but anytime I buy them there are large green worms sitting in the blossom that I can only see after a couple of days and then feel sorry for them because I know that they will die there. So I stopped buying them..
I only see a part of your deck but it looks lovely. I can imagine you sitting there in the afternoon with a good book and a cup of whatever you like ;)

I have a great deck-like back porch. I have been pondering what I can do that will allow me to have plants out there. It gets way too much afternoon sun and would be hard on many plants. I need to do some things that will create some shade or partial shade.

For the past 20 years I have had just the opposite problem, with too much shade on my deck. But because of emerald ash borers, I have lost several Ash trees in the past few years and it has given me some sunlight and I've had to pay attention and begin to plant different sort of plants this year. It would for sure. The feeders take regular maintenance. I wash mine every 3 days and put fresh sugar water in it. 1 part sugar to 4 parts water. Make sure the feeder has an ant trap (a cup to put fresh water in that the ants can't cross)

Good point. The deck was here when we moved in. It was okay but the weather made it very slippery and it felt a little dangerous. Several people slipped on it so it had to go.
