Merci!

Sea monster indeed! I love granite. I wish there was some up here...

We would have no rocks at all it seems if it weren't for these. There's some good stuff north of me and south but i'm in the sand pile zone ; )

Sand piles are nice too! They're basically just very small rocks. ;)

Wee boulders ; )

Yeow a scary boulder monster! Looks like a cross between
a antler and a leach! lol Wow boulders from the island!
Granite is such a wonderful stone! 💎

Kelp bulbs are the coolest ! I never have seen the quarry on Catalina but they must have taken out a pretty big chunk of it !

Nothing like being hit with a kelp bulb when we
was kids playing on the beach lol
Makes ya wonder taking from a island, usually they are
trying to reinforce them. Must be high up. I guess the
granite from the sierras is to far away.

You could really wallop someone! Haha, Catalina is a mountain top sticking up out of the ocean and there's lots of rock to spare. There's really only one small town and the rest is mostly only accessible by boat. It's really pretty and a hugely popular place for people with boats to visit. I'm sure it was way cheaper for them to load the rocks on huge barges and then dump them off where they wanted them here in the water. It's only about 30 miles away. These places all have harbors where are the boats are. Lots of $$$ incentive to build. I think it was all done by The Army Corp of Engineers - back in the days when the government was looking to expand shipping and business related growth.
