Hunting knife on the cheap

My son and I did an experiment today to see if we could make a good quality hunting knife on the cheap and I am happy to say we achieved that goal. For under $15.00 we made a high quality hunting knife that will last for years to come and the best part of it is that it was made with a rotary tool, grinder tool, pallet wood, wood glue, decking screws, and of course and cheap hunting knife with plastic handles from Wal-Mart. Note this knife was bought two years ago. You also do not need all the tools that we used to make this hunting knife premium however they were extremely helpful. I will include a tool list at the end of this article.
This project was fun but was a learning curve however at the end of the project it was very rewarding.
As man who enjoys being in God’s great outdoors I like to have quality outdoor gear and the best part about this project was being able to make it with my son who enjoys the same great outdoors as I do.

I have included some pictures of the process we went through today and the awesome time we have doing this project.

So as you see it was an amazing journey how everything fit together for this project. We had some trying times such as wood splitting and holes being drilled wrong but in the end we were reminded "that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." (Romans 8:28 KJV) We saw this happen when one of our handles cracked and we were ready to give up but then in the Lord's divine way he had one that we made earlier that took the place of the one that broken. I am constantly reminded that the Lord uses broken things and makes all things new. what an amazing promise.

The above music video by Matthew West entitled "Broken" that I found on Youtube certainly closes out this day really well. Be blessed every one and keep looking up because the King is coming.

Tool List Used today:

Rotary Tool (wen products)
Grinder (hyper tough)
Two Decking Screws
Wood Glue (gorilla wood glue)
Wood Pallets
$10.00 Hunting Knife from Wal-Mart
Olive Oil (for wood treatment)

Have a great day and God bless you all.

Nice!! Is it good to be able to do something with your son like that. I cant wait till our little daughter is old enough for me to take out fishing and hunting.

Sorry for a late reply but here is my answer to you. Considering me and my dad (BowHunterig) spent the day working in this together we learned that it was nice to just hang out together! We don't get to do projects like this too often because of his work but when we do. We love it! Again sorry for the late reply!
