I’m not here to criticize either hunting or the hunters since hunting is neither illegal nor prohibited in any religion (if I’m not mistaken). Islam allows hunting and so does Christianity, and other religions too and thus no one can say hunting is wrong. However, one has to realize the difference between hunting and hunting for fun which, apparently should be better described as killing; merciless killing would be even a better phrase.
Just go to the YouTube, search for “Bow-Hunting” or “Spear-Hunting” videos and in a matter of few seconds; tons of the desired stuff would be uploaded for your viewing. So what’s there in these videos that makes me (and I’m sure several others on this planet earth) feel both, sick and helpless? Did you watch the videos? If so, you must have noticed how happy the hunters felt over their successful shots. You must have also observed the ‘Triumphant’ look on their faces, effortlessly reflected through their each and every act such as their body language, their words, expressions and gestures. Didn’t they seem to have every reason in the world to feel happy and every reason to feel proud? And why not, after all they’ve killed two animals; what if the killings were for fun, right?
For those, who avoided to watch the videos following a “graphic content” warning sign, a black bear and a boar were killed, both being “speared to death” but trust me; these were not mere two deaths; they were two merciless, painful and miserable deaths. What makes these (and other similar) deaths all the more miserable is the hunters’ merciless rather brutal behavior.
The way they celebrate over an innocent animal’s death seems totally inhuman and it hurts (at least me) a lot. Whether they are bow hunters or spear hunters, first they would hit their target aiming at their lungs or heart area and leaving the animals fatally injured. On most of the occasions, the injured animals manage to run a few last yards of their lives in total shock and disbelief until they drop under some bush or a tree or into a pond of water.
The hunters and their team would never follow the injured animal right away. If the victim dies on the spot, chances of which are very rare, then they would be seen rushing to the ‘death scene’ and proudly posing with the dead animal. However, if the victim is a large, dangerous and powerful animal, the hunter(s) would wait for the poor victim to bleed to death; these ‘cowards’ would wait for hours and hours but will never get any closer to the speared or bowed animal until they’re one hundred per cent sure; that ‘the danger is over.’
Do you think this fair? Don't you really find this all disturbing? Trust me, even these animals feel pain just the way we do and I thus truly believe they don't deserve such a painful, miserable and helpless death.
