Floyd Mayweather Beats Conor McGregor With 10th Round TKO

Floyd Mayweather has beaten Conor McGregor in Las Vegas to claim his 50th victory of unbeaten boxing record.

McGregor was seen by many as an unparalleled opponent and was in fact written off before the fight. Incredibly, the UFC figer surprised many by his above-record performance that took the fight to round 10 before being defeated by technical knock out.

The unprecedented fight started with a flying start for McGregor who was almost overconfident and even putting his hands behind him for Mayweather at some point. Even the unbeaten boxing champion could not stop him claiming the first set of points before the bell.

The 29-year-old McGregor received a warning in the third round as he connected to the 40-year-old on the head. Yet, Mayweather, who probably had underestimated the Irish MMA fighter, struggled to stamp his authority on the contest.

In round 4, McGregor sent Mayweather to the ropes. The unbeatable champion winked to the camera to confirm his confidence while he trailed wearily towards the Irishman. Floyd Mayweather jr. who is known to be patient and started to find his groove in the fifth round. Pushing the Irishman back, Mayweather landed a number of blows to the body and his pressure started to pay off in the sixth as the Irishman began to tire out.

From the seventh round upwards, Mayweather began to exert serious pressure on McGregor getting him on the ropes before a hard left hook. In the eighth round, the 40-year-old maintained the pressure but Conor remained quite resistant even trying hard to land his own shots.

The American champion of 50 fights finished off McGregor in the 10th round with official KO punches which caused the referee to step in to stop the fight.
