Will be booking an Uber or Ola for your ride back to home. Will be ordering food from Zomato or Swiggy and might be having Kwality or Naturals ice cream for dessert. You might have guessed where I am hinting.
We think of label’s most of the time. We are so much obsessed with brands that we might even fight for our dearest brand with our peers. We are in so much love with them that we are willing to pay premium prices. It’s one of the primary reasons after innovation for Apple to become the second most valuable company.
Did you know about Saudi’s Aramco well before its IPO? I never heard of it before its IPO started to make buzz. It is the most valuable company on earth. Way head of the Tech titans. Though the brand Aramco is not that popular, our LPG prices are majorly based on Aramco’s pricing.
Most of us have used classmates notebooks during our school days. Classmates parent company is ITC (India Tobacco Limited). Just to make its brand image better, the tobacco company started other segments like Aashirvaad atta, Sunfeast biscuits, yippee noodles and recently into premium chocolates.
Let’s take the recent example of Jio. Reliance is in so much love with the Jio brand that it has named all its mobile apps with the prefix Jio – Jio Saavan, Jio TV , Jio Music, Jio Marts and many more. In fact, we have JIO University too.
Why branding is so much important for the companies?
It is the best way to associate with the consumers and to create impression on our minds. Reliance is not a user-friendly term for the common people though JIO is. Its one of the reasons Reliance is naming its new fuel venture as JIO-BP. Brands help the company to gain trust of the consumers. At the end of the day, branding helps in creating more revenue and hence more profit.
Can we disassociate ourselves from brands? Can we just buy products without looking at the brand name?
I request you to contemplate upon these questions for a moment.
