Brazil is experiencing cases of infection and deaths from yellow fever, and passengers traveling to the country were called upon to take precautions to protect themselves from the disease.
According to the World Health Organization, cases of yellow fever in France and the Netherlands were registered among travelers who had resided in Brazil for a while without getting the vaccine.
In Germany, the German Institute of Research on Infectious Diseases reported that a German citizen had died and two others had contracted the disease. All three had spent time in Brazil's famous Elha Grande island.
Tourists are advised "urgently" to get the vaccines at least 10 days before traveling to Brazil to protect against viral infection.
According to the Robert Koch Institute, the three Germans who were recently infected were not immunized against yellow fever, and did not ask for any medical advice before leaving for Brazil.
