Jesus is the bread of life: Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. John 6:35

The gospel of John relates that Jesus, being in Galilee, like the prophet Elisha, multiplied loaves for a multitude because they were hungry; there were in Galilee many who followed the "son of man" for his spiritual teachings and miracles.
The next day after this important miracle Jesus was in Capernaum, and the people who had eaten the miraculous bread with him followed the Lord there.
And in the village of Capernaum, Jesus spoke to them about the true bread of life. Jesus came into the world to bring a new bread, not physical but spiritual, his word; a word that like a seed had to grow progressively, gradually, until it bore fruit for the salvation of a humanity oppressed by sin and error.
But in his teaching Jesus went further; he identified himself with that bread: "I am the bread of life" John 6:35. With this Jesus explained that he is the personification of the word of God, Jesus is God who becomes "son of man." The Kingdom of God, the dominion or empire of God's perfections, is not only man who seeks the gifts of God, it is also those gifts made flesh in Jesus.
And unlike the Israelites who had received the Manna to reach the promised land, Canaan; Jesus offered this new bread for the spiritual promise of eternal life, the life that once obtained cannot be lost. That is why Jesus with wisdom said to his disciples and followers: "Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty" John 6:35.
And this is so because the gift of eternal life is the same knowledge of God and the truth through contemplative activity. With these metaphorical comparisons, Jesus made it clear that men must strive to obtain the true goods that come from heaven, such as mercy, faith, and the fear of God, and not be carried away by the deception of riches.
