Would you like to buy a bread at a bakery or from a grocery store such as Aldi, Lidl, CBA, Spar, or Tesco in Budapest? How much does it cost?
First of all, the general and cheapest bread in Budapest is the pure white bread. This isn't very healthy, but that is what most Hungarians eat, simply because it is the cheapest you can find.
In Hungary, they normally sell breads based on weight, or the weight of the dough they use to prepare the bread. So as you enter a bakery or go to the store, you can see that they sell 1/2 kg bread, 1 kg bread, or at other sizes.
So, the cheapest option is normally 1/2kg of white bread, and the price is between 1 and 1.5 euros in most stores, even though you can get it at higher prices as well.
If you want 1kg bread, then the price for such white bread is between 2 and 3 euro, normally.
But, if you want better bread with more nutrients and that is supposed to be healthier, then you can imagine 0,5kg of brown bread, or supposed to be healthier bread, costing about 2 euro. If you go to a premium bakery, the price will be 2,5 euro or maybe even more.
In other words, bread isn't a very cheap thing to buy in Hungary, at least not if you want to eat some premium and more healthy bread. You can read more about the prices in Hungary at https://www.hungarybudapestguide.com/what-are-the-prices-like-in-budapest/
