This week the bitcoin wallet provider Breadwallet announced it would support the ability to send ‘Bitcoin Cash’ (BCH) by August 14th. Breadwallet will be one of the first mobile wallets to provide this feature as many other wallet services have yet to provide software functionality for the BCH chain.

Breadwallet to Provide a Bitcoin Cash Tool Next Week

Breadwallet's Bitcoin Cash Tool Arrives Next Week — Full Client Coming SoonBreadwallet has announced its BCH sending tool will be available by August 14, due to the BCH network improving “sufficiently.” Breadwallet’s CMO Aaron Lasher says the team believes the network will likely survive, and plans to “implement full support for BCH” in the future. However, for now, the application will be providing a one-time sending feature for those who want to move their coins before the startup’s full implementation.

The wallet provider states they will provide a tool that enables users to send all of their BCH funds to an alternate address of the user’s choice. In an earlier blog post, the firm’s CPO James MacWhyte described the situation for Breadwallet users after the fork.

“Our current plan is to add a simple feature to the existing Breadwallet app, that will let users send their entire balance of BCH to an address of their choosing,” explains MacWhyte. “This operation can only be done once, and your entire BCH balance will be sent to the address provided. Your BTC will not be affected in any way.”

Full Bitcoin Cash Client Coming Soon

Breadwallet's Bitcoin Cash Tool Arrives Next Week — Full Client Coming SoonThe company explains that with the new functionality comes with some drawbacks, such as when a user sends their BCH balance the transaction will be publicly associated with all your Breadwallet addresses. Additionally, the announcement details they don’t recommend sending BCH to an address in the Breadwallet app itself. “If you do, it will safely arrive, but it will not be included with the other coins when using the one-time BCH send functionality,” explains Lasher.

Currently, there are quite a few mobile wallets that have yet to provide a BCH tool. However, companies like Jaxx, and Airbitz have assured users they will provide BCH functionality soon. Other wallets have stated before the fork that they will not support BCH functionality, and users of those wallets will have to use their seed with another wallet provider that favors the BCH chain. Breadwallet thinks users will appreciate the one-time send tool, so they don’t have to wait for the full implementation release to access to their BCH.
